Profound Effects, Inc. was founded in April 2001 by Perry Kivolowitz, Paul Miller, and Dan Sterling.

Perry was the founder of Elastic Reality, Inc. and inventor of the technology with the same name. He received an Academy Award® for Scientific and Technical Achievement in 1996. He was appointed an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin and taught courses in computer graphics.

Paul is the author of the IRIX® version of Elastic Reality. While with Avid Technology, Inc., Paul designed the AVX™ plug-in architecture and was the principal author and designer of Avid Marquee®.

Dan is a Harvard MBA and has started a number of successful businesses, including the Breadsmith, a national chain of gourmet bread bakeries.
