Is there a demo version of Elastic Gasket?

Yes. You can request a demo version from the Demo Software Request page.

Follow the installation instructions in the Documentation. Remember that After Effects plug-ins run transparently inside the Avid editing system as if they were AVX™ plug-ins.

Will the After Effects® bundled plug-ins work with Elastic Gasket?

No. The bundled After Effects plug-ins use undocumented features that cause them to crash when used with Elastic Gasket.

If you are experiencing a crash when your Avid editing system starts or after you enter the license key, be sure that none of the After Effects Standard or ProBundle folders of plug-ins are located in the Avid AVX Plug-ins folder.

Where do I find my Avid® dongle ID?

After you install the Elastic Gasket plug-in, start your Avid system. The Elastic Gasket plug-in will display its setup dialog box, which includes your Avid dongle ID. The dongle ID is an 8-digit number in which some of the digits can be letters from A to F.

Why does the Product ID box show all zeros, or why am I getting a message about a missing dongle?

You might need to update your dongle drivers. Select the version for your computer platform from the following links.

• Sentinel System Driver for Windows
  To install, double-click the setupx86.exe file in the WIN_NT folder, choose Install Sentinel Driver from the Functions menu, make sure the path to the Sentinel files points to the I386 WIN_NT\I386 folder, and then click OK. Be sure to restart your Windows sytem.
• Sentinel System Driver for Mac OS 9 (Not required for Mac OS X)
  To install, copy the contents of the sentinel.sea folder (RainbowUSBShim and USBSentinel extensions) to your System folder’s Extension subfolder, and then restart your Mac OS system.

Why would all of the Delirium plug-ins appear in the Effect Palette, but none of the Cinelook plug-ins?

Some versions of the Cinelook installer incorrectly installed the plug-ins into the C:\Program Files\Adobe\After Effects 3.0 directory, regardless of the directory you selected.

Make sure that the Cinelook.aex plug-in appears in the AVX_Plug-ins directory. If not, search on your machine for a file named "Cinelook.aex", and copy it and other appropriate plug-ins into the AVX_Plug-ins directory.

Why is my Avid system freezing or crashing when I try to switch between Elastic Gasket effects?

If the following error appears:

Assertion (in HostOverlay == NULL // mHostOverlay = overlay) failed in = avxhostoverlay.con line 59

this is a known problem with the Avid editing system. One way you can avoid this problem is to disable overlay controls when switching between Elastic Gasket effects. You can do this by turning off the overlay controls using the overlay icon in the Effect Editor window, or deselecting the “Show custom controls” option in the settings for each of the Elastic Gasket effects.

You can also disable the custom controls by default in the Elastic Gasket preferences dialog box.

Why does the console give an AVX warning about failing to open the ElasticGasket.avx plug-in?

If an error message similar to the following appears in the Avid console:

AVX_WARNING: Failed to open C:\Program Files\Avid\AVX_Plug-Ins\ElasticGasket.avx plug-in

you might have no supported After Effects plug-ins in the AVX_Plug-Ins folder. Be sure that at least one supported After Effects plug-in exists in this folder.

When I try to change a percentage parameter, the value changes to 0 instead of the correct value?

There was a problem with earlier versions of Elastic Gasket in which changing a percentage parameter (such as the Dust Visibility parameter in Film Stock) would set the value at 0 instead of the correct value. This problem has been fixed as of Elastic Gasket version 1.2.

I upgraded to Avid Xpress Pro or Media Composer Adrenaline, and Elastic Gasket now cannot find the dongle or says I do not have a valid license.

The Avid Xpress Pro software for both Mac OS X and Windows requires an updated version of Elastic Gasket, which you can download from the Elastic Gasket Software Request page.

We are currently looking into a compatibility issue with Elastic Gasket on Media Composer Adrenaline for Mac OS X. When a compatible version becomes available, we will provide updated software on our Elastic Gasket Software Request page. Thank you for your patience.

I upgraded my Avid software, and now I am getting the message “The license key does not match the Avid Dongle ID for this system. Please check that the number was entered correctly.”.

This message appears if one of the following situations occurred:

• You upgraded from Avid Xpress DV to Avid Xpress Pro on the Mac OS operating system. Avid Xpress Pro uses the PC dongle ID, even on Mac OS X, so if your existing Elastic Gasket license was based on your Xpress DV (Mac) dongle ID, you will need to request a new license. Contact our Licensing department to request a new license. Be sure to explain that you upgraded from Xpress DV to Xpress Pro on the Mac.

• You are using a different dongle (and dongle ID) than what the Elastic Gasket license was generated for. Elastic Gasket license keys are locked to a specific dongle ID. Contact our Licensing department to request a license transfer. Be sure to provide your old dongle ID and license key, as well as your new dongle ID.

• You downloaded the latest Elastic Gasket software, but are still using an Elastic Gasket license key generated for an older version of the software. Contact our Licensing department to request an updated license. Be sure to provide your dongle ID and license key, and the date when you received your old license key.

• You typed the license key without dashes between each group of four characters (e.g., XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX), or entered a letter or digit other than ABCDEF0123456789. Be sure to enter the license key as it was provided to you.

Note: Elastic Gasket for Avid|DS is no longer available. Official support for existing Elastic Gasket for Avid|DS and Avid DS Nitris users ended October 31, 2004.
