Elastic Gasket™ is an affordable, high-performance adapter that allows a growing list of supported third-party After Effects plug-ins to run transparently under Avid AVX™-compliant editors such as Avid Symphony™, Media Composer®, Avid Xpress®, Avid Xpress® Pro, and Avid Xpress DV.

Version 2.0 Now Available! Version 2.0 adds RT (Green Dot) mode support, enabling adapted After Effects plug-ins to support Avid’s YUV color space, allowing for overall better performance and interactivity than in Blue Dot mode. Version 2.0 is available and supported only on Windows-based Xpress Pro and Media Composer Adrenaline systems. See the Elastic Gasket Specifications for details. Existing users of these systems can upgrade to v2.0 from our online store.

Avid users without After Effects simply can’t access After Effects-only plug-ins. Users with both systems face a choice between the added cost of buying plug-ins twice (if available) or the added time of moving image data from one system to another to take advantage of an After Effects-only plug-in.

Note: Elastic Gasket for Avid|DS is no longer available. Official support for existing Elastic Gasket for Avid|DS and Avid DS Nitris users ended October 31, 2004.

Being able to run After Effects-only effects right in the Avid editor means a dramatic improvement in workflow by avoiding time consuming export and import operations. And plug-in suites that exist for both After Effects and Avid platforms need be purchased only once. Workflow improvement and money saved make Elastic Gasket a must-have for users of Avid editors!

Note: If your Avid dongle ID has changed (for example, you upgraded your Avid system or switched to a different Avid system), you can transfer your existing Elastic Gasket license to the new dongle ID by purchasing one of the License Exchange products from our online store. If your current Elastic Gasket license was free (bundled with your Avid system purchase), select the “Elastic Gasket - Avid Bundle License Exchange” product. If you purchased your current Elastic Gasket license, select the “Elastic Gasket - Avid Paid License Exchange” product. Free license exchanges will be verified.

Note: If you are using Avid Xpress DV 3.5 or another Carbonized host application on the Mac OS X operating system, you must use Carbonized or Mac OS X-compatible versions of the After Effects plug-ins. Your Classic (non-Carbonized) plug-ins will not work with Elastic Gasket on the Mac OS operating system. Check with each vendor for their plug-ins’ Mac OS X-compatibility.
